PILC Alumnus among Martin Ennals Award finalists
Adilur Rahman Khan (Bangladesh), a former PILC (now LLM in International and European Law) student who graduated in 1987, has been nominated for the prestigious Martin Ennals Award for Human Rights Defenders. This prize is awarded by the International Human Rights Community and given to Human Rights Defenders who have shown deep commitment and face great personal risk. The aim of the award is to provide protection through international recognition.
Adilur Rahman Khan is an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, a former Deputy Attorney General for Bangladesh (October 2001 – May 2007) and a founder and the Secretary of the human rights organisation Odhikar.
The Award will be presented on 7 October 2014 at a ceremony hosted by the City of Geneva.
