On 30 August our ‘Lunch & Learn: Global Insights’ lecture series was kicked off by Dr. Tongfi Kim. Discussing the Camp David Summit which took place only 12 days before the event, the tone was set, aiming at providing students with insights on current events or research in the policy fields offered at the Brussels School of Governance.

The Lunch & Learn lecture series will host both internal and external lecturers and professionals from a variety of backgrounds. Two other hot topics that will will be put on the agenda are the current migration crisis and the geopolitical impact of climate change. The idea of organizing this series of events comes from Lisa Kelman, the Programme Director of our BA Preparatory Programme. Nonetheless all BA and MA students are welcome as well. The lectures are organised in an informal setting in which registrants are offered pizza while learning about new perspectives.

"US-Japan-South Korea Trilateral Security Cooperation after the Camp David Summit” was the title of the first edition of this lecture series, its focus on the significance of the US-Japan-South Korea trilateral summit meeting that took place on 18 August 2023. Based on academic literature on military alliances, Professor Kim argued that the real significance of the historic summit is actually hidden from the publics of the three countries.

We can’t wait for the next lectures to occur!
