Executive Director Anthony Antoine participated in the workshops of the LEAD project, held in China

On 10-11 November, Executive Director Anthony Antoine participated in the 4th series of workshops of the LEAD project, held at the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China. In his keynote speech, Anthony emphasised on the role of academic leadership in finding solutions to tackle the different challenges of the university of tomorrow – a topic for which he also led one of the workshops.

On 13 november, Anthony joined VUB President Eddy Van Gelder and VUB prof. Dominique Verté at the LEAD Academic Leadership Forum at Tongji University in Shanghai, held back-to-back with the annual High-level People-to-People dialogue conference. Anthony gave a keynote speech in the ‘Vision and Strategic Planning of University Governance’ panel.

LEAD is an Erasmus+ Capacity Building project led by the VUB and coordinated by VUB prof. Chang Zhu in cooperation with UNICA – the network of universities of the capitals in Europe. The LEAD project brings together experts and stakeholders in university governance and academic leadership from EU (Belgium, Portugal, Finland and Turkey) and China. The project provides unique training, workshops and role-model learning opportunities for university management teams, and an exchange platform between European and Chinese partners. This facilitates and speeds up the internationalization processes of HEIs, especially in the area of academic governance and leadership. More info can be found at www.lead-project.org.
