IES joins new project to reinforce EU judicial and police cooperation

The Institute for European Studies (IES) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel is partnering with 9 European institutions in the framework of a new project JP-COOPS funded by the European Commission DG JUST (Justice Action Grant). The main coordinator of the project is the University of Malta. In the next 2.5 years, JP-COOPS aims to reinforce judicial and police cooperation in 26 EU Member States through expanding and strengthening existing training networks. The IES is contributing to several research and training-related tasks as well as dissemination activities, including the design of 5 training modules: Judicial Tools for Situational Crime Prevention, Prevention of Juvenile Radicalisation, Radicalisation and Investigations, Radicalisation and the Stockholm’s Roadmap, and Framework Decisions and Rehabilitation Programs. Moreover, the IES, in cooperation with the University of Malta, is organizing two training courses for trainers, one in Italy and one in Bulgaria. Irina van der Vet is coordinating the project for the IES.
