IES-VUB supports Belgian ‘Sign for my future’ initiative

Climate policy is currently high up on the political agenda in Belgium, not in the least because of the public demonstrations taking place in various cities since the beginning of 2019. The Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and its Institute for European Studies (IES) join the call of the Belgian climate coalition. On 5 February, Sign for my future was launched, a new initiative aimed at a more ambitious Belgian climate policy. This initiative is supported by companies, universities and civil society organisations alike. IES researcher Tomas Wyns is one of the members of its Steering Group and, together with VUB rector Caroline Pauwels, also acts as one of its ambassadors. The IES Environment and Sustainable Development team recently published a range of research reports that were commissioned by both the Flemish government and the EU Commission to use as building blocks for the Flemish and EU climate policies respectively in the coming decades.

Linked to this initiative is a petition that will be submitted to the government just before the next Belgian elections (May 2019). We would like to invite you to sign this petition to support its cause: https://signformyfuture.be/nl/ (Only people accessing it from a computer located in Belgium can sign it).
