Teaching and Learning Technologist

The Teaching and Learning Technologist will work collaboratively with the Institute’s staff and students to support learning through the use of technology. This involves inter alia the design of online courses (e-modules) and the transposition of courseware into an e-learning environment. The T&L Technologist will also be responsible for the administration and support of the existing online educational portfolio, as well as for making best use of technology to enhance student learning. Moreover, an important role is given to the management and coordination of communication technologies and the enhancement of synchronous e-learning through online seminars (webinars). The T&L Technologist will help facilitate the development of courseware for the different teaching and research units of the Institute.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Institute’s researchers and professors to develop online seminars (webinars) and offer technical and practical support.
  • Disseminate relevant information for the Institute’s staff and students on the use of technology in education by conducting training sessions, developing tutorials, handbooks, etc.
  • Develop training materials, such as handbooks and video presentations for different target groups;
  • Facilitate the development and integration of content on the platform and make sure the quality and topicality are respected.
  • Offer support for both content developers and students and resolve any issues pertaining to registrations, inquiries, exams, etc.
  • Develop and integrate additional, audio-visual and graphic content to the modules (glossaries, charts, images, podcasts).
  • Work closely with the EU Modules' technical department of the University to make sure the needs of the students are met.
  • Organise IES ‘in-house’ trainings and offer logistic and administrative support for guests and speakers

Profile

Applicants need to:

  • have at minimum a BA degree in any of the following: education, communication, information / computer technology, social sciences;
  • have a minimum of 1 year relevant professional experience;
  • be proficient in English;
  • have excellent organisational and communication skills;
  • be experienced in working with e-learning tools (Chamillo, Moodle, Blackboard, Connect or others) and with html, CSS, image editing (Photoshop, InDesign)
  • audio-video software skills are considered an asset (iMovie, Final Cut, Audition)
  • Interdisciplinarity is considered an advantage
  • We are looking for people who are creative and can work independently or as part of a team
  • Candidates should be technology-oriented, with the capacity to quickly develop new IT skills

What we offer

Successful candidates will be full-time members of the IES secretariat, with an employment contract of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, scale 4-5-6 (ATP)
