EuroMaster Employability Advisory Committee gathers for inaugural meeting

The Employability Advisory Committee of the Advanced Master in European Integration (‘EuroMaster’) held its first meeting on 8 June, bringing together a diverse group of professionals committed to enhancing the employability of EuroMaster graduates: Angela Liberatore, Head of the Scientific Department at the European Research Council (ERC); Queenie Swerts, a seasoned professional at the European Central Bank (ECB); Gilles Suply, an advisor at Fluxys and member of the Friday Group; Maarten Toelen, a cybersecurity expert and consultant; Arjen Schippers, a quality assurance advisor at VUB, Jamal Shahin, the current EuroMaster Programme Director, and Charlotte Marie Dooms, a member of the Marketing & Communications team at the Brussels School of Governance.

By strengthening alumni engagement, the committee aims to provide a platform for networking, mentoring, and career guidance. Its inaugural meeting set a positive tone for its future endeavours. Committee members delved into discussions surrounding key areas where they can provide concrete support to the EuroMaster programme. Concrete proposals that were made included:

  • Establishing an Excellence Programme to support current students in developing their employability skills. This Programme would offer an additional certificate that students can earn by working on a task or project in collaboration with relevant partners affiliated with EuroMaster alumni.
  • Organising networking events to connect current students to alumni
  • Providing feedback on programme content and ensuring its alignment with the evolving needs of the job market. This feedback will be incorporated through existing quality assurance mechanisms, such as the EuroMaster Programme Board and VUB Quality Assurance processes.

Future meetings will continue to explore innovative strategies, collaborations with industry partners, and the implementation of initiatives that empower students to thrive in their professional journeys. Would you like to play an active role in this programme’s alumni community as well? Or would you like to attend an alumni event that will be coming up this autumn?
