On 6 November 2023, the Brussels School of Governance hosted a compelling guest lecture on the Role of Transatlantic Cooperation in Countering Terrorism. The lecture was delivered by Mr. David Epstein, a Foreign Service Officer of the US Department of State, currently serving at USNATO in Brussels where his portfolio includes space policy. His previous assignments include being stationed at the US Embassy in San Salvador, the Consulate General in Jerusalem, and the US Embassies in Kabul and Sofia.

This event was held as part of the “Global Terrorism, Counter-terrorism and De-radicalisation” course, lectured by Professor Demir Murat Seyrek. Although the lecture was part of the Bachelor programme in International Affairs, it was open to the participation of students from BA in International Affairs; MA in Diplomacy and Global Governance and  MA in Global Security and Strategy.

David Epstein, the guest lecturer, drew upon his extensive experience and deep knowledge of transatlantic relations to shed light on the complex interplay of factors in the ongoing battle against terrorism, and it provided students with invaluable perspectives on this issue.
