Andreea Budeanu

Postdoctoral Researcher

Andreea Budeanu is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS) of the Brussels School of Governance (BSoG-VUB). She has a PhD in Politics and International Relations together with a BA in Chinese Language and Civilisation from the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilisations (INALCO), Paris. She was doctoral visiting fellow at the School of International Relations of Peking University, Beijing, and she holds a double-master degree in International Relations and European Studies from University Marne-la-Vallée, Paris, and Babes-Bolyai, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Prior to joining the CSDS, Andreea taught courses to graduate and undergraduate students in international relations at the University Jean-Moulin Lyon III, and in Chinese economy at INALCO.  

Her research interests include EU-China relations, China's foreign policy and economic development, non-western theories of international relations, as well as great power competition. She is an associate fellow at the French Research Institute on East Asia (IFRAE). At the Brussels School of Governance she is conducting research on China’s relations with the European countries and on China’s economic presence and influence in Europe in the context of the Sino-American competition.
